Transitions are a part of life. In the educational environment planning for transition to adulthood becomes part of the planning process at the age of 14. Developing a plan facilitates the smooth transition from public education (entitlement) to adult services (eligibility).

DORS Pre-employment Transition Services are available for students at least 14 years of age and less than 22 years of age. A student or family member can complete the online application. The Western Maryland Regional Office is located at 16 W. Washington Street, Hagerstown, MD. The phone number for Hagerstown DORS is 301-733-1209.

School health protocols
Medications - Students may not carry over-the-counter medications. A completed Physician's Medication Order Form is required with signatures by the health care provider and the parent/guardian.
Illness - Students with fevers (100° F or greater) should be kept home until fever-free without any fever-reducing medication for 24 hours. Students with vomiting should also be kept home until there is no vomiting for 24 hours.
Notification of Injury - Please notify the health room if your student is using orthopedic appliances, has a cast, or will require activity restrictions.
Major Injuries and Emergencies - Major injuries and emergencies will be referred to the Emergency Management System (911). Every effort will be made to notify the parent/guardian.

Medication Form - a medication form must be complete before health care staff will administer any medications or treatments to students.
Project LifeSaver
This is a program available independent of the school offered by Many Individuals Helping Individuals (MIHI). A student wears a small transmitter that emits a silent radio signal. A tracking receiver is used when needed to track the student. The application information and more information about MIHI is available here.
