Specialized programming
Marshall Street School provides individualized special education programs for Washington County Public School students with significant intellectual, physical, sensory needs. We provide full day services for students age 5 through the school year they reach 21 years of age. The students enter into the program through the district IEP process (DIEP). The students participate in academic classes in the areas of language arts and math. Science and social studies are integrated in an authentic manner throughout the school day through meaningful learning experiences. The students also have learning opportunities related to social skills, community-based instruction, communication, and self-management. As the students become older they also focus on vocational and activities of daily living skills. Related services include physical, occupational therapy, and speech/language therapies. Vision and hearing services are also available to support students in their learning environment. The students participate in adapted music, art, and physical education throughout the week.
