The Job Development Program provides post high school career development pathways for Washington County Public School students with intellectual, adaptive, and sensory needs. Students enter this program after completing four years of high school in a Connections program. The students participate in the Job Development Program from age 18 through the school year they reach 21 years of age. Students enter into the program through the district IEP process (DIEP). The students in this program participate in courses related to food service, building trades, digital literacy, marketing, horticulture, and portfolio development. The students also participate in adapted art, music and physical education classes throughout the week. Finally, students also have community work-based experiences that lead to the career success of students with disabilities. Some students that attend the Job Development Program participate in the Transition Skills class at Washington County Technical High School two days per week for two years. All students who have completed 4 years in a high school Connections Program are eligible to participate in the Job Development Program.
Our Mission:
Through real-world learning applications and on-the-job training, the Job Development Program strives to improve the skills and knowledge that significantly increase students' productivity, thereby enhancing their ability to live independently and be contributing members of society.
